Associate Estate Planner
Empowering Life Beyond Money
Hong Xu’s background in film and storytelling shaped the way he sees people, choices and the many ways a life can be lived. Perspectives beyond his own showed him that there is rarely one right path, only different priorities and trade-offs.
That view now guides his approach to financial and estate planning. He believes planning should open up options for people to make decisions with intention, without letting money become an unnecessary barrier to life.
Before Highlife, Hong Xu began his career in conventional financial advisory through roadshows. Its transactional nature, and the limited technical and structural support, left him questioning whether the work truly served the person behind the money. Highlife strengthened his conviction in a different kind of practice, one where human lives, their hopes and possibilities remain central.
For Hong Xu, empowering life beyond money begins with understanding and collaboration. Too often, financial planning is delayed because life gets in the way: I’ll wait for that bonus. I’ll wait till we sell the house. I’ll wait till I get promoted.
Before we know it, our options begin to narrow. Hong Xu aims to bring financial clarity, direction and technical depth to the decisions in front of you, so your next goal feels less daunting and more within reach.
And that usually begins with a conversation.
Life rarely follows a script.
That’s why Hong Xu begins by understanding the whole picture: where you are, what you are working towards, and what matters beyond the numbers. From there, he helps you decide what still belongs in the frame and what comes next, so your planning moves with you.
Planning can also extend beyond you. Through Highlife’s Box of Wishes®, your intentions are set out clearly, so the people you care about are not left guessing.
Hong Xu believes in relationships with room to speak openly, including about what remains uncertain. That is what keeps a plan resilient as life unfolds.
Everyone has a story to tell. Let’s frame yours together.
Hong Xu graduated with a degree in filmmaking from Nanyang Technological University. He once aspired to direct films for the big screen. Life had other plans, and these days he helps people direct their own financial lives instead. Close enough.
Still a creative at heart, he practises filmmaking from time to time, and believes no matter how big a dream is, it is always worth pursuing.
Some of his all-time favourite films include Yi Yi (2000), Arrival (2016) and Happy Together (1997).
